peak fiction

(1 edit)

In colloquial terms: Peak is back on the menu. In friendly terms: After briefly watching you struggle to get this working in class, I want to reassure you and say that this game was well worth the effort. In opinionated terms: Jock Louden is the best. He is true to himself as a Dolly Parton fan and as a person who makes fun of dweebs. Much more worthwhile than the inherent pretentiousness of artsy Louden and emo Louden. I don't like nerd Louden, I see myself in him. In curious terms: May I have the name of the song used for the intro?

This game made me laugh so many times. Great intro, I LOVE the dating sim/visual novel emulation style, and I like how every single character has their own "theme" that sets the mood. The art was awesome, too. Great stuff!

The different music choices worked well to immerse me in your game. The gameplay and art is also very humorous and makes it feel very personal as I believe you made it all yourself. I especially like the artsy guy getting tackled for shoplifting, very funny.

Wow the music at the start threw me off, in a good way. It was fun to have it playing and seeing how it changed depending on which character you were speaking to.

My favorite character was Louden, I felt his motivations were very clear and his character arc brought me to tears.

Really reminds me of Disney's Inside Out, with how you sort of portray each side of you. Sounds add a lot to the game and the humor brings it all together.

Love how the music changes depending on who you're talking to. Did you make the music yourself? I especially liked the intro music.

Same, and they fit both in genre and setting, all the music is in the same level of volume.

I only partially made the intro song! Most of that work though was AI since I do not have any real music knowledge. Everything else was from freesound. Thank you for playing!

I stan for Louden.

No, nerd guy is the best

Oh wait...

This is my favorite game hahaha, the idea if this game is interesting and the music is funny too. The conversations between these boys made me laugh.

How did he know I was a Dolly fan???!???

Super fun game and I can tell you put a lot of thought into the story. Really enjoyed the fact that you made your own theme song for the game. It makes it so much more original and adds to the atmosphere. I’m slightly offended the goth one didn’t wanna talk to me. Reminded me of high school :(

My favorite bachelor is the art dude - he got the funniest dialogue LOL. Really wanna replay the game when it's fully functional to see what I missed.

Also the sound elements really pull together the environment in the different scenes!

I kept laughing during this game. So much fun dialogue to get through and I love the concept. Really great work here Louden!

I love the references in the game, the background reminds me of VNs, the characters feel like they come from flash games, and I also realized that all the characters are Louden. maybe the real Louden were the friends we made along the way.

The game has a really nice and interesting art style and it fits the UI’s perfectly lol. And I like your sense of humor lol, the story were also really nice, made me laugh when I saw how I say the drawing was good then the man runs away in tear, really nice game.

Your sense of humor really shines through here as much as it did in your first game. The anime-style opening music was also awesome and funny.

I think it’s interesting that you can go between each of the different date option. I’d just sort of be curious how the game could be if you had the text change based off of which of the characters you’ve already spoken too.

I agree it was super funny! The art style fits really well with the humor too, reminds me of like Hatoful Boyfriend and other parody dating sim games. Definitely would be interested in seeing a more expanded version with the different dialogue options.

Even though I know you were (rightfully) frustrated with the tech issues, what I was able to see was still super hilarious! I admire how you essentially made Ren’Py in Unity for this, and everything from the text to the graphics are just tons of fun. It’s clear you put a lot of heart into this, so definitely don’t beat yourself up for some things breaking. I still had a lot of fun and a few great laughs :)
